Is the object by which we secure the rod's base and distribute the load or weight across our thighs. The belt is made up of a pad that houses a cup that holds the rod's gimbal.
A slot in the gimbal will fit over the pin in the cup. The size of the pad will differ depending on the type of rod used. Lighter line classes, such as 30 lbs, will have a smaller pad. When using heavy 80-130lb class gear, the forces will be much higher, and the pad will be larger to distribute the load evenly across your thighs.
The pad is held in place by a belt around your waist or, ideally, by drop straps attached to your harness. In either case, the set-up must be adjusted while the belt and harness are in place and the angler is holding the rod.
