A dredge is essentially an umbrella rig with six arms that has been amplified to include multiple interconnections off each arm. These points are known as drops.
In contrast to the ever-popular umbrella rig, a dredge is outfitted with hookless baits or lures that are arranged in a bait ball pattern with the intention of attracting any pelagic species.
The drops are followed by a combination of hookless lures, natural baits that have been rigged, and soft plastic squids, which create the illusion of a natural bait ball below the surface.
Fish teasers dredged up from the bottom imitate schools of bait fish that are swimming behind your boat. They will make it easier for you to breed and get more of the game fish that you want.
