A bimini top is an open canvas structure supported by metal frames that sits over the cockpit of a boat. According to triangle marine center, the name bimini top comes from the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, where they were first created.
Bimini tops are typically constructed of aluminum or stainless steel. Aluminum is a popular choice for smaller vessels due to its light weight, whereas stainless steel is slightly heavier but holds up well in a marine environment and is commonly used on larger vessels.
Bimini tops are an excellent solution for all types of boats. Biminis provide shade and cover, allowing you to enjoy a hot summer day without getting sunburned, which is always a plus! The heat can be unbearable at times, and we need to be able to easily access shade to avoid becoming dehydrated. Biminis also allow you to enjoy taking your boat out in the rain by providing rain protection - we are seeing a lot more biminis used with full covers now.
