Chris Cantrell, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was scuba diving at Beaver Lake during the Labor Day weekend when he speared a massive paddlefish. Possibly, this is a new spear fishing world record because the fish weighed more than 90 pounds.

Cantrell, along with his friend Andy Jeffries and his brother-in-law Kalvin Cackler, went scuba diving in the lake in Northwest Arkansas on September 3. In the first place, their targets were the striped bass and the carp. All of a sudden, Cantrell saw the huge paddlefish and made the final decision to go after it.

“I was on my third and final dive of the day when I saw it,” Cantrell told AGFC. “I was maybe 15 to 20 feet underwater when I saw the large shape. At first, I thought it was a gar, but then I was able to get close enough to see what it was and take the shot. “
